Primary School Overview

The Primary School program of learning at Lakeside College aims to produce learners who have the building blocks for a lifelong journey of learning. Beginning at Prep, with a balance of tailored instruction and guided exploration, we strive to enable the students to develop skills and attributes that will serve them throughout their lives.

The program of learning endeavours to apply current knowledge about how students learn effectively by using strategies and approaches that contemporary research shows are most effective.

Embedded into all this are regular checks of learning progress, so that individual differences are considered and catered for with differentiated teaching. A compassionate team student support officers work with the classroom teacher to provide small group support for students in need. Our Individual Differences Director analyses allied health reports and works with teachers to develop individual education plans for these students.

Ultimately we are working towards ensuring all our students are ready for the transition into secondary education.
